Wine And Cheese Gift Baskets

Gift baskets are all the rage and people are using their creativity to make some wonderful arrangements for their friends and family. However, some arrangements are best left to the professionals. Cheese gift baskets are perfect examples of items that should be created and preserved by a company.

Many of us love to use our loved ones' interests and hobbies for ideas to make great collections for the wicker containers. Just about everyone knows a cheese lover. It is one of the most popular foods around. Making cheese gift baskets for the individuals who love this popular food seems like a great idea but it definitely isn't easy.

I know this from experience. I created some cheese gift baskets for a wine tasting party I threw last year. Choosing just the right wines to go with the specific cheeses was a huge task in itself but I also wanted my friends and associates to go home with a little memento for the evening. Cheese gift baskets seemed like the perfect present for this particular occasion.

The idea was great but the end result was not. First of all, I planned ahead which is usually a pretty good way to go when dealing with parties and social events. It is not necessarily the best idea for making cheese gift baskets that are going to lie around without refrigeration for a few hours.

Why I didn't think about refrigerating the 25 different cheese gift baskets I spent hours creating is beyond me. I made sure to chill the white wines and the red Zinfandels. I kept the appetitive chilled or warmed right up until the moment they were served. For some reason I thought that once the cheese gift baskets were made that they would hold up to any temperature or conditions.

Of course, I was terribly wrong. I planned the event quite well down to the last detail. I even made the 25 cheese gift baskets the evening before. They didn't see the inside of a refrigerator until it was too late. I sent 25 people home with questionable cuisine in their cheese gift baskets.

Not one guest complained about the oversight but no one sent "thank you for the rancid cheese" cards either. I found out about the mishap when one of the cheese gift baskets was left behind. I was not happy with what I found inside.

I learned two valuable lessons. Don't schedule a wine tasting party in mid August and leave the cheese gift baskets to the professionals.
